Helping clients with legal solutions to the issues that arise in their personal and professional lives, Attorney Kathy Kjorlie takes an individualized approach to every client, starting with an initial consultation at no charge. Licensed in the State of Wisconsin, she practices primarily in the following areas.
Drawing up the documents to "get your affairs in order." Whether you need a will, a trust, or power of attorney documents, we work with you until you are satisfied with exactly what these important papers say. Multiple goals can be reached, such as planning to reduce or eliminate your eventual probate estate, providing for members of a complex family, and enhancing control over your finances while you are still living and after your death. Related services include marital property agreements, either before or after marriage.
Administering the estate of a loved one who has died. This may require formal or informal probate, trust administration, small estate settlement, and/or property transfers. Whether you need a little guidance in the process, somebody to handle the entire matter, or anything in between, our level of involvement is for you to decide. We can also assist with a guardianship for a minor or an adult.
Assisting with a real estate transaction. We can draft and/or review the contracts involved in buying or selling a house, lot, or vacant land. This might be a cash sale, one with a mortgage, or perhaps a purchase or sale on land contract. If you own a farm or recreational property, you may wish to form an entity and make arrangements for your beneficiaries to use and enjoy the property without conflict in future years.
Setting up a business entity, such as an LLC, and drafting agreements to make it run smoothly. In addition to legal needs, we can assist you in creating your business plan, which is essential for success, and provide other resources as you become an entrepreneur.
